An independent association
Inter Press Service was founded in 1964 to address the information gap between the Global South and North. IPS Academy draws on this journalistic tradition and operates as an independent, not-for-profit association, with its own activities in education, communication and international cooperation.
Our contribution
IPS Academy brings together training, editorial initiatives, international cooperation and advisory services for media, universities, institutions and organisations.
We bring an editorial perspective to cooperation: understand the local context, question assumptions, listen to people and make sources and responsibilities clear. This also guides our work in partner identification and institutional dialogue.
Organisations and documented collaborations
- UNESCO — programme implementation for Afghan media resilience, recorded in 2022.
- UNAJ, ARUNA and RIU — scientific and university media cooperation in the development of AIUNCA, documented in 2025.
- IULM University — the AIUNCA presentation at COP30, proposed with IPSA/CitiPlat in November 2025.
